Joint marketing with Milwaukee to highlight tabless cylindrical battery technology
SAMSUNG SDI announced today that it will participate in InterBattery 2026, opening on March 11 for three days, to present its vision for batteries in the age of artificial intelligence.
Now in its 14th year, InterBattery is Korea’s largest battery exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources and co-organized by the Korea Battery Industry Association, COEX, and KOTRA.
Under the slogan “AI thinks, Battery enables,” SAMSUNG SDI plans to showcase high‑power, high‑quality battery products and innovative technologies that are essential for the AI era.

“At this year’s exhibition, we will showcase advanced battery solutions that enable the AI era,” adding that “visitors will see SAMSUNG SDI’s global technological competitiveness, delivering both high performance and enhanced safety.” said a company official.
High-Power Batteries for UPS and BBU: The Backbone of the AI era
The main focus of this year’s exhibition will be the high‑power, high‑quality battery technologies for data centers, which serve as the backbone of the AI infrastructure.
SAMSUNG SDI will highlight the importance of high‑power batteries that maintain continuous power supply for AI data centers by showcasing Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and Battery Backup Unit (BBU) solutions at the center of its booth, which is the largest among all participating companies.
SAMSUNG SDI’s UPS battery, the U8A1, uses an LMO (lithium manganese oxide) chemistry in a prismatic form factor, delivering both high‑power performance and enhanced safety.
The battery was named the Award Winner at The Smarter E Europe, Europe’s largest energy exhibition, making SAMSUNG SDI the only Korean company to receive the honor last year and underscoring its global technological excellence.
The company will also unveil a BBU battery solution for the first time at the exhibition, featuring SAMSUNG SDI’s latest design technology and high‑power, high‑capacity cylindrical cells.
The battery solution features high‑capacity cylindrical cells that deliver strong power output and connect directly to servers, enabling fast response during peak demand and providing extra time to secure data during an outage.
Setting the Standard for Sustainable AI Power: Samsung Battery Box (SBB)
SAMSUNG SDI will showcase the full lineup of its all-in-one battery solution for ESS, the Samsung Battery Box (SBB), highlighting its ease of deployment, enhanced fire safety, and long lifespan, which are essential features for power infrastructure in the AI era.
SBB is an all‑in‑one solution developed by SAMSUNG SDI in 2023 for energy storage applications, and has gained strong traction in major ESS markets such as the United States and Europe. It houses battery cells, modules, and racks inside a 20‑foot container and applies SAMSUNG SDI’s proprietary Enhanced Direct Injection (EDI) technology, along with systems that detect cell abnormalities in advance and track life span, enabling the SBB to deliver industry‑leading safety and a long life span.
“The AI industry, which relies on high‑performance servers operating around the clock, requires high levels of power, making stable and environmentally sustainable energy management essential. ESS will become a key power infrastructure, providing immediate support during emergencies such as power outages.” a company official said.
At InterBattery 2026, the company will also unveil Samsung Battery Intelligence (SBI), an AI‑based fire‑prevention software being introduced for the first time, offering an ESS solution with enhanced performance and safety.
All-Solid-State Batteries: Powering the Future of Physical AI
SAMSUNG SDI plans to introduce its industry‑leading all-solid‑state battery technology and a range of applications that use it.
The company will begin mass production of all-solid‑state batteries in the second half of 2027 and expand their applications to various forms of physical AI, including humanoids, mobile robots and industrial robots, as it prepares for the upcoming robotics era.
Physical AI systems require high‑performance computing and precise actuation, which in turn demand high energy density, stable power output and safety. All-solid‑state batteries are emerging as a key solution, offering higher energy density and a significantly lower fire risk.
In addition, SAMSUNG SDI plans to highlight the competitiveness of its high‑power cylindrical batteries featuring tabless technology through joint marketing with the global power tool brand Milwaukee.
Visitors can try out Milwaukee products equipped with SAMSUNG SDI’s 50A high power cylindrical batteries, which were recognized with an InterBattery Award last year.
“By showcasing cylindrical batteries, which form the foundation of SAMSUNG SDI’s high-power technology, we will demonstrate our strong competitive edge across a wide range of AI-powered applications,” a company official said.
