SDI 25U-Power cylindrical battery recognized for world-class technological competitiveness
No TP thermal propagation prevention technology wins innovation award
SAMSUNG SDI commits to leading the transformation of the global battery industry
SAMSUNG SDI today announced that it has won the Best of Innovation award ahead of CES 2026, the world's largest tech event to be held in Las Vegas next January, for its cutting-edge high-power cylindrical battery technology.
After making its debut at CES 2025 and winning four Innovation Awards, SAMSUNG SDI has reached another milestone by earning the top honor just two years later. The SDI 25U-Power, SAMSUNG SDI’s high-performance cylindrical battery, has been named the Best of Innovation winner in the Construction & Industrial Tech category of the CES 2026 Innovation Awards, hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).

Each year ahead of CES, the CTA evaluates innovative products from around the world based on their technology, design, and innovation, and announces the winners of the CES Innovation Awards.
The SDI 25U-Power is a high-power 18650 cylindrical battery (18mm in diameter, 65mm in height) that doubles output compared with conventional batteries, delivering the same power at half the weight. Primarily used in power tools, it enhances user convenience and improves work efficiency.
Featuring tabless technology for the first time in an 18650 battery, it minimizes internal cell resistance and effectively controls heat generated during charging, achieving high power output, fast charging capability, and long lifespan.
The battery also features a thin electrode plate coating using high-nickel NCA cathode material and SAMSUNG SDI’s proprietary Silicon Carbon Nanocomposite (SCN) anode material to reduce resistance, delivering powerful performance in a compact size.
SAMSUNG SDI’s advanced safety technology, No TP (No Thermal Propagation), was also named an Honoree in the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility category. The technology prevents fire from spreading to adjacent cells when an issue occurs in a specific battery cell. Leveraging its proprietary thermal propagation prediction program, SAMSUNG SDI maximizes overall safety by optimizing safety materials between cells and using gas vents to release gas through designated pathways.
Previously recognized an Award Winner at The Smarter E Europe 2025, the largest energy exhibition in Europe, No TP has once again proven its technological excellence by earning an Innovation Award at CES 2026. Following its strong debut at CES 2025, where all four of its exhibited products received Innovation Awards, SAMSUNG SDI’s latest recognition with the Best of Innovation underscores its growing leadership and global competitiveness in advanced battery technology.
“This award carries great significance as it recognizes our proprietary technological competitiveness in the global market, achieved through continuous R&D efforts,” said SAMSUNG SDI official. “Building on our long-standing expertise and innovation capabilities, we will continue to lead the transformation of the future battery industry as a global innovation leader.”
