SEOUL, Korea – July 1, 2025 – SAMSUNG SDI today announced that the company held a commemorative ceremony at the headquarters in Giheung to celebrate its 55th anniversary.
The event was attended by key management staff, including President and CEO Joo Sun Choi, along with recipients of the SDI Awards for outstanding business performance and long-serving employees. The ceremony included an awards presentation and a town hall meeting.

In his commemorative speech, CEO Choi stated, “it is said that one's actual competence can be more clearly see as circumstances become more difficult,” adding, “I believe in our competence and potential, and if we come together as one we will be able to take a greater leap forward.”
He emphasized that “The market is subject to continuous change,” and that “to take one step forward, it is important not only to reflect on our past shortcomings but also to act with wisdom that could encompass both the present and the future.”
Choi continued, “Recently I often have trouble sleeping at night. When I think of the reality we face, I sometimes feel shivers down my spine,” referring to the recent challenging internal and external business environment.
He emphasized that “re-building of competitiveness in manufacturing, stabilization of our electrode, assembly, pack technologies and the ensured success of our new businesses in the electronic materials field are desperately needed”. Choi also encouraged employees by saying, “It is highly important that we as a company actively engage in such changes and exert endurant efforts until we start to see positive results.”
Choi concluded by saying, “We can, and will, achieve our goals,” adding, “To make the heartening future you imagine and expect a reality, I will take the lead and exert my best efforts. I will take the responsibility for making this happen.”
Attending the commemorative ceremony for the first time since taking on the role, Choi expressed his gratitude to employees saying, “I would like to thank all of you at your respective posts for doing your best amidst these difficult times.”
