Samsung SDI Establishes R&D center in Europe and USA

 

 

□ On August 15, Samsung SDI established the R&D center in Boston, USA. It established the R&D center in Munich, Germany on July 1. SDI will establish a R&D center in 2023. 

□ Securing technology competitiveness via cooperation with local universities, research centers, and companies. 

□ Samsung SDI's President and CEO, YOONHO CHOI, "we will secure super-gap technology competiveness and strengthen the best quality via utilizing global state-of-art technology and overseas talents."

 

 

Samsung SDI is strengthening global R&D capability via establishing R&D centers in USA and Europe. 

 

On August 15 (GMT+9), Samsung SDI announced that it established 'SDI R&D America (SDIRA)' in Boston, USA. SDIRA is the first Samsung SDI's R&D center located in the United States. On July 1, Samsung SDI established 'SDI R&D Europe (SDIRE)' in Munich, Germany. Also, SDI plans to establish a R&D center in China in 2023.

 

 

 

Samsung SDI is establishing overseas R&D centers to secure super-gap technology competitiveness via region-specific research and development of new battery technology.

 

SDIRA will cooperate with outstanding local universities and start-ups that show vibrant innovative battery technology and next-generation battery research and development.

 

Throughout the cooperation, Samsung SDI expects to acquire overseas talents and build R&D infrastructure.

 

Samsung SDI will increase its global R&D capability through establishing the R&D center in 2023 in China which has the biggest number of battery-related universities, research institutions, and companies.

 

Samsung SDI is focusing on developing the next-generation battery technology which is the future growth engine by spending the industry-leading R&D expenditure. According to Samsung SDI's business report released in March, the last year's R&D expenditure recorded 877 billion KRW which is the highest ever.

 

In addition, in this July, Samsung SDI launched 'Tech & Career Forum' to recruit local PhD students. Samsung SDI's major executives from development departments including President and CEO YOONHO CHOI and Head of R&D Center Chang Hyuk participated the forum. Samsung SDI has spared no effort to recruit and train outstanding future talents to become the Global Top Tier Company by 2030.

 

Samsung SDI's President and CEO YOONHO CHOI said, "we are establishing overseas R&D centers to secure super-gap technology competiveness and strengthen the best quality via utilizing global state-of-art technology and overseas talents, starting from the United States and Europe, we will continuously increase regional R&D strongholds."
