In the field of 2nd lithium-ion batteries which represent the energy and environment-friendly, SBLimotive is in charge of the automotive battery business, and Samsung mobile display has launched in the AMOLED field representing the future display area.

AMOLED is a next-generation business for pioneering of true digital age based on the world’s best display technology from a color cathode ray tube TV to PDP, a large flat panel TV.

Samsung SDI started OLED business since Jan. 2001, and in half and a year after, succeeded the world's first mass production of duel folder mobile phone full color OLED in Aug. 2002, showed off the display technology. And Samsung SDI has developed the world thinnest of AMOLED, 0.52 ㎜ thickness of the thin, and 2.2 inches. In addition, a product which is only 0.05 mm thickness and world’s ultra micro-type 10㎝ (4 inches) size, developed in 2008.

Samsung mobile display has reborn from Samsung SDI's AMOLED business and Samsung Electronics small and medium-sized LCD business to maximize the future management capabilities and business synergy based on these technologies.

In addition, Samsung SDI, who is rapidly growing in the field of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, launched joint venture SB LiMotive with Bosch of Germany, the world's largest auto-parts maker, for the development and production, and sales of electric vehicles (xEV: overall concept including hybrid, plug-in hybrids, pure electric car) battery. SB LiMotive founded in Sep. 2008 is planning to produce xEV battery in 2011.

Samsung SDI and Bosch will have a core technology of creating the future of automotive batteries based on the element of strength for both companies, the world's lithium-ion battery and automotive systems technology experience, through SB LiMotive.
