Special Spectacles Support for the amblyopic students

Samsung SDI has supported special spectacles for about 842 amblyopic students and 600 old men so far since 1996 with the purpose of inspiring academic enthusiasm and encouragement of the amblyopic students of the blind schools across the nation.

Scholarship Fund

It is to support tuition fees for the visually disabled students who entered universities with excellent records in spite of economic difficulties. With the purpose of helping the visually disabled to adapt themselves to society well and fostering competent human resources, we began to support university entrance tuition fees for total 16 visually disabled students by now 2003 since 1997.
The supported are now performing well in a society as teachers, postgraduates, or music professional in various fields.

Family Tie Program

Approximately 1 million Koreans are physically or mentally challenged and 97 percent of them are left without jobs. Among them about 100,000 Koreans are blind. Only 7 percent of the blind have established family ties with people whereas more than 90 percent of orphans and senior citizens have family ties and receive assistance.

Samsung SDI, in cooperation with Good Neighbors International, has been a financial supporter for the blind and encourages them to participate in vocational rehabilitation programs. So far Samsung SDI has donated a total of 480 million won for 790 households until March 2003. Samsung SDI will be further committed to help the blind with love and understanding.

If you want to help the blind, send an e-mail to 'Good Neighbors International' at (www.gni.or.kr)
