FAQ

12What does a Pack in a Lithium-ion battery mean?

A Pack is a battery or a battery combination in which cells are arranged in series/parallel according to the customers’ request or cells are composed to be installed/ inserted easily in order to satisfy various electric power consumption.

11How is a secondary battery different from primary battery?

□ Primary Battery : battery which can be used for one time only (non-reusable)

It includes Hg battery, Lithium-Mn battery, Alkaline battery, etc.
□ Secondary Battery : battery which can be reused through the processes of discharging (chemical energy converts into electrical energy) and charging (the opposite procedure)

It includes Ni-Cd battery, Ni-H battery, Lithium- ion battery and Lithium-ion polymer battery, etc.

10What are the major differences between a prismatic and cylindrical type Lithium-ion batteries?
Both prismatic and cylindrical type batteries have same operating mechanism basically. Prismatic type is usually used for mobile devices and its general capacity is 500~1200mAh; whereas cylindrical type is mostly used for Notebook PC and camcorders and has 1600~2400mAh capacity which is higher than prismatic type. Detailed comparison between the two types is specified in Product Information.
9Are the batteries of your company sold to general consumers as well?

Since the batteries are designed according to the using environment of the set makers and to be used by the Pack unit; only set makers can buy the batteries

8Can a battery be used longer if it is kept in a cool area such as refrigerator?

A battery is to be kept in a place of low temperature and low humidity as a rule; however, a refrigerator is rather humid so the Lithium-ion battery which has instable property against moisture could be put in a danger.

7Is Lithium-ion the only dangerous battery?
All batteries are dangerous to some extent, and Lithium-ion batteries can be the most dangerous products; however, you can use them safely thanks to the safety apparatus attached to them.
6How is Lithium-ion different from Lithium-ion Polymer?

It depends on the state of the electrolyte (liquid/ polymer) which makes the Lithium ions transfer.

Lithium-ion usually adopts aluminum cans to sustain the flammable active materials of the battery securely since it includes liquid state electrolyte; while Lithium Polymer uses Polymer state electrolyte which is more stable than Lithium-ion electrolyte and covers the external parts with Laminated film.

5What is Cell Impedance?
Inner Cell resistance is related to the maintaining of the current flow. If the resistance is high, voltage drop during discharge can occur which can affect the equipment.
4What kinds of data are required in designing Protection Circuit?
It needs quantity of information; however information as the following is necessary; V max, min and cut off, Max and Min current loads. Pulse profiles, Operating and Non-operating temperatures.
3What is a "Smart" Battery?
Since a Smart Battery has a chip inside monitoring the condition of the battery (output voltage, temperature, etc) through the communication amongst applications such as a note book PC, battery capacity before the following charging needed can be transmitted to the note book PC; therefore, the usage of the application is more convenient.
