PDP

PDP Terminology

Brightness

It is the brightness of a screen and divided into Full White brightness (Brightness of the whole white screen) and Peak brightness (Brightness of 1% of the white screen).

TFT has equal Full White and Peak brightness, but PDP has higher Peak brightness, capable of dynamic expression with the screen of high contrast gap.

Luminescence Efficiency

It is a ratio of transforming consumed electricity into light energy.

Since PDP requires high driving voltage due for gas discharge, efficiency is low.

Color Reproducibility

In general, good color reproducibility means that more colors (wider area) are expressed in the color coordinate.

PDP is more advantageous than TFT in the aspect of expressing more natural color.

Contrast

It is a ratio of Peak White brightness and Black Background brightness of Panel and it classifies light and dark room.

Contrast of TFT in the bright place and contrast of PDP in the dark place are advantageous.

Viewing Angle

In accordance with display models or types, viewing angle gives rise to different features. It indicates the angle range of over 10:1 of contrast value in measurement.

PDP hardly has differences in Contrast according to angles.

EMI (Electromagnetic Interference)

Devices or components emit electronic waves and causes hindrance or barrier to others.

Image Sticking

It is a phenomenon that the indicated area remains without disappearing when transforming display screen. (In moving picture, it does not occur.)

False Contour

It is a phenomenon that screen is folded and looks unnatural due to overlapping of Sub Field in the image.

PDP EMI, image sticking and false contour problems are almost solved.
