RCA system approved by FCC in 1953 was the successful color television for the first time commercially in broadcasting. Before RCA, there was mechanical color television system developed by Peter Goldmark, CBS researcher based on Logie Baird 1928 design.
Although CBS mechanical color television was a large volume with serious flickering, it was approved by FCC in 1950. Moreover, the worst demerit of CBS mechanical color television was not substitutive with the broadcasting of black and white television, sold then 10.5 million(50% of RCA).
With this, RCA accused of CBS system based broadcasting. CBS was operating color broadcasting at 5 stations in the eastern area of America, but it failed due to extremely low sale of color televisions(by the time of Korean war, color televisions were prohibited to be manufactured) and damage caused by RCA¡¯s sue at the end.
In the mist of it, RCA developed a better color television (electrical television) than CBS system based on 1947 patent of Alfred Schroederd and color broadcasting of RCA system was able to receive black and white television. RCA system was approved by FCC in 1953 and RCA color television began to be sold since 1954. The demand of color television came in earnest from 1964 which was 10 years since.
